History

The paradigm of sustainable development which is part of the national development policy is intended that in the utilization of natural resources as an effort to improve human welfare need to pay attention to environmental capability to meet a demand of the present and future generations. An environmental engineering effort either by strategy or tactical is intended to enable the environment to support development activities in order to meet the demand for every human life.

In facing the challenges of globalization as well as sustainable development activities, the need of human resources, both skilled and qualified personnel also responsive to environmental issues is still indispensable. Driven by ideas, beliefs, the foundation and passion to face these challenges, encourage the formation of Environmental Engineering Department, Diponegoro University based on SURAT KEPUTUSAN DIREKTUR JENDRAL PENDIDIKAN TINGGI NO.377/DIKTI/KEP/1998  determined since October 21st 1998.

Department of Environmental Engineering is one of the courses in the scope of the Faculty of Engineering Diponegoro University which officially established in 1998 and began to receive the first student in the academic year 1999.

​

"This study program was established with the aim to meet the demand of a reliable environmental engineering experts who can play an active role in addressing environmental issues in line with population growth, increased public awareness of a healthy environment, global climate change conditions and the Millennium Development Goals (MDG's)"

In performing an educational program, the department of environmental engineering implements a scrupulous formulated curriculum that involves the establishment of an educated, skilled and knowledgeable graduate character that supports creative and innovative and professional mental and creative thinking.

Department of environmental engineering complementing students to be actively involved in dealing with clean water treatment, wastewater treatment, solid waste treatment, air pollution control and environmental sanitation through technical approaches. In addition, Bachelor of Environmental Engineering is also qualified with a variety of supporting knowledge including health and safety, project management, communication skills and entrepreneurial spirit. Department of environmental engineering supports talent development and student expertise allocation in the section of religion, art, culture and sports, also provide students with experience of organization through Environmental Engineering Student Association (HMTL).
