Dr. Ir.Anik Sarminingsih, MT, has been working as a lecturer at the Department of Environmental Engineering of Diponegoro University since 2000. She completed her bachelor degree in Water Engineering, Brawijaya University (UB) in 1989. Since graduated she was more involved as a consultant, especially in the field of water resources. In the meantime, she used her time off on Saturday to become an assistant lecturer or to teach at a private university. Until finally, she decided to focus on being a lecturer by taking the test on scholarship program for PTN lecturer candidate in 1997 (DUE scholarship), and she chose Environmental Management Department in Environmental Engineering ITB. Choosing career as a lecturer was not without a reason. According to her, by becoming a lecturer we can transfer our knowledge to students, share experiences, apply their knowledge to the benefit of many people. She is interested in water resources because she thinks that water as a source of life must be managed properly. Therefore, she gives lectures that mostly related to the water science. Nevertheless, water is also a potential hazard, hence, to minimize the risk due to water damage, especially flood, then she continued his doctoral program in Civil Engineering and Environment at ITB with topic dissertation was Spatial Data Based Risk Analysis In Determining Criteria Flood Control System. She hopes it can contribute to flood control efforts, especially inputs to policy makers on structural flood handling that should take into account the risks first and not just using the same standards for different rivers with different regional conditions.
